Thank You, Dr. Webster
Early in 2006, Dr. Lynn Webster (right), the Medical Director of Lifetree
Clinical Research and Pain Clinic in Salt Lake City, became the manager of our
Interventional Therapy Department. Realizing that there were numerous projects that Dr.
Webster was working on, we were pleased that he thought Practical Pain Management
important enough to find time to write and review articles for us.
While he did that for us, he developed the Zero Unintentional Death program and wrote
the book Avoiding Opioid Abuse While Managing Pain, A Guide For Practioners. I have seldom
found anyone more anxious to share his experience and expertise with his colleagues. At
the outset, Dr. Webster agreed to accept the position for not more than two years. We did
not find a replacement that could meet the standards set by him until now and he
graciously agreed to continue until we did. And so, Dr. Webster relinquishes his role as
department head but remains on our Advisory Board so we may ask his advice from time to
time.
I have personally gained a valued friend whose company is enjoyable, enlightening and
loads of fun.
Welcome, Dr.
Richard Rosenthal (left)
We decided, early this year, that we needed to feature interventional procedures in
upcoming issues. Dr. Webster gave us the names of a few doctors who might be interested in
writing an article. High on his list was Dr. Richard Rosenthal who immediately agreed to
favor us with a comprehensive article. He chose to write an article titled Use of Pulsed
Radiofrequency in Clinical Practice that our reviewers overwhelmingly voted as the cover
feature.
Dr. Webster once again chipped in with his advice, Ask Richard to take over
management of the Interventional Department. We did so and Dr. Rosenthal quickly
responded in the affirmative. Therefore, going forward Dr. Richard Rosenthal will be the
manager of our Interventional Department.
Dr. Rosenthal is the Medical Director of Nexus Pain Care of Provo, Utah, and the
Fellowship Director of the Utah Center for Pain Management and Research where, over the
last three years, he has trained fellows who have gone on to be prominent physicians. He
is the President of the Utah Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is an
anesthesiologist and a recognized expert in interventional procedures. His expertise in
the use of radiofrequency has been documented in books and papers including an upcoming
chapter in the new addition of Dr. Waldmans Elsevier text titled Pain Management.
He was elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America from 1994 to 2004.
He has been an instructor for the International Spinal Injection society for the past nine
years. In May 2009, he was the medical director of a workshop on Advanced Radiofrequency
Techniquesonce again attesting to his leadership in this special interventional
procedure.
We are comfortable knowing that our very important Interventional Department is in the
capable hands of Dr. Richard Rosenthal.
